ASQA suspends security courses from RTO’s scope

26 September 2012

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national regulator for the vocational education and training sector, has suspended that part of the registration of the Academy of Applied Business Pty Ltd that relates to providing security training courses.

The suspension took immediate effect when notice was provided to the Queensland-based training organisation on Tuesday 25 September. It will remain in effect until further notice.

The suspension applies to the following courses within the scope of registration of the Academy of Applied Business Pty Ltd:

  • CPP20207 Certificate II in Security Operations
  • CPP20211 Certificate II in Security Operations
  • CPP30407 Certificate III in Security Operations
  • CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations
  • CPP40707 Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management
  • CPP50611 Diploma of Security and Risk Management.

During the period of suspension, the Academy of Applied Business Pty Ltd is not permitted to enrol any person in any security course, allow any person to begin any security course, or publish or broadcast any advertisement relating to security courses.

The decision to suspend follows serious allegations in the national media about the organisation’s delivery of security training packages, and an ongoing investigation by ASQA in response to complaints about significant variations in the requirements and standards of security training across different jurisdictions.

Anyone wishing to provide further information relating to security training courses is encouraged to contact the Info line on 1300 701 801.
