ASQA approves extended transition period for CPP security qualifications until 1 July 2020 for learner cohorts in Queensland and Tasmania
Following the ASQA Commissioners' decision in December 2019 to extend the transition period of two CPP security qualifications, the Commissioners recently extended their decision regarding the CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations to include learner cohorts in Queensland that would be eligible to obtain a weapons licence from Queensland Police on completion.
This decision is to allow the Queensland Police Weapons Licensing unit time to update their educational requirements to reflect the replacement qualification. The extended transition period is specific to those learners undertaking the firearms unit within the CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations.
Further on 15 January 2020, the Commissioners agreed to extend the transition period of the CPP10107 Certificate I in Security Operations until 1 July 2020 for learner cohorts in Tasmania. This qualification has a licenced outcome in Tasmania and the extension will allow the Tasmanian Department of Justice time to amend their educational requirements to obtain a licence.
The qualification(s) will remain on RTOs scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period, unless the RTO chooses to withdraw it from scope prior.
