ASQA’s reform is continuing. Over the last few Updates, I have been able to share important information as it has developed and this month is no different. New governance arrangements to support ASQA’s continued evolution were passed by the Australian Parliament on 24 August 2020 and will soon come into effect. This will see the role of Commissioners replaced with a single head of agency supported by an expert advisory council. This is a key part of the reform work underway to improve ASQA’s alignment with best practice regulation for the benefit of students, providers and employers. Other legislation changes coming into effect over the next 12 months include changes to support recent amendments to the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (NVR Act) and you can read more about this in this month's ASQA Update.
