Policy version of revised Standards released

1 October 2024

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) has released the policy version of the revised Standards, which will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025.

The revised Standards set out requirements for providers and will comprise of the:

  • Outcome Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) – which will outline the key elements of quality training and assessment that organisations must demonstrate to be registered (and maintain registration) as a training provider
  • Credential Policy– which will operate alongside the Outcome Standards and outline the minimum requirements for delivering training and assessment and undertaking assessment validation
  • Compliance Requirements – which are the administrative and compliance obligations that RTOs must meet at all times to protect VET students and support integrity within the vocational education and training sector.

DEWR has also released a draft Policy Guidance document.

ASQA will be progressively releasing draft Regulatory Guidelines to support providers to transition to the revised Standards. Ahead of releasing the full suite of guidance materials, our draft Preparing for the revised Standards is now available. This outlines areas for providers to consider when assessing and self-assuring operations against the revised Standards and will be incorporated into our Regulatory Guidelines over coming months. There will be further opportunities to provide feedback on these resources to help us tailor and improve our educative materials to meet your needs.
