Update on cancellation decisions taken against Get Qualified Australia entities
Decisions by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to cancel the registration of three Get Qualified Australia entities as providers of vocational education and training (VET) services have come into effect.
On 8 February 2017 ASQA announced that it had cancelled the registrations of:
- Get Qualified Australia-Adelaide Pty Ltd (RTO ID 41068) trading as Get Qualified Australia Trades Academy and Get Qualified Trades Academy;
- Get Qualified Australia-Canberra Pty Ltd (RTO ID 41093) trading as Get Qualified Australia College; and
- Get Qualified Australia-Brisbane Pty Ltd (RTO ID 41094) trading as Get Qualified Australia Institute.
The decisions were to take effect on 6 March 2017. However, the provider applied to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) for a review of ASQA’s decision and a stay of the decision pending finalisation of the review.
ASQA opposed the request for the stay on the grounds that the public interest in the decisions coming into effect outweighed the disadvantage to the providers of ceasing operations while the review process was conducted.
On 10 March 2017 the AAT rejected the stay application. As a result ASQA’s decision to cancel the registration of the three providers came into immediate effect.
The application for a review of ASQA’s decision remains ongoing.
Students should contact their respective training provider for more information.
ASQA will work with the three entities to secure the records of current and former students. Once obtained, students can request a copy of their records from ASQA. More information on applying for a copy of your student records is available by visiting the ASQA website.
