Changed data provision requirements

7 December 2020

We have updated our Legislative changes page to include the new National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Data Provision Requirements) Instrument 2020, which was approved on 20 of November 2020.

The new instrument, which will come into effect from 1 March 2021, has simplified and clarified the existing data provision requirements.

While many of these changes are minor, providers are now required to keep us up-to-date about the physical address of any site or campus from which VET courses are delivered on a permanent basis.

We will use this information to ensure provider details on the national register (training.gov.au) are accurate and up-to-date, which is critical in supporting students to make an informed decision when selecting a training provider.

To help you understand what the changed requirements mean, we have updated our information to explain:

  • when the changes take effect
  • what the changes will mean in practice
  • how the changes will affect providers
  • how ASQA’s processes will change.

We will continue to update providers on their data provision obligations in the lead up to the instrument coming into effect in March next year.
