Welcome to the July edition of the ASQA Update.

1 July 2021 marked ten years since the establishment of ASQA. We took the opportunity to come together with all staff to reflect on the last ten years, what we have achieved and importantly, to look to how the experience and learnings gained over that time has formed a strong foundation for us going forward and the changes we are making to our regulatory culture and practices. One year into our reform program, it was really exciting to hear the messages from both our special guests, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business and the Hon Steven Joyce, former New Zealand Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment. They recognised the important progress we are making to drive co-operative relationships between ASQA, providers and other stakeholders, to be more transparent in our approach to regulation, as well as our work to promote and facilitate a culture of effective self-assurance as an integral part of a provider’s routine operations. Both speakers affirmed the integral role ASQA plays within the VET system, underscoring just how critical this role is to progress the Government’s vision for a future of agile skills delivery to support our recovery and ultimately, our future economic future prosperity.
