ASQA Update - June 2021
From our Chief Executive Officer
Welcome to the June edition of the ASQA Update.
This month, we were pleased to be joined by many of you at two of our interactive webinars, which covered the recent improvements to our regulatory approach and ongoing developments in the online learning space. The webinar on our regulatory reforms featured a live Q&A with our Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Christina Bolger, who was able to answer many of your questions. For those of you who were not able to attend, some of these questions and their answers are included in this Update. We continue to explore the opportunities and challenges posed by online learning, which brought many of us together at our second webinar this month. We will soon be sharing what we have heard from you through our consultations, including learnings to ensure that our regulatory approach remains effective in the changing delivery environment. Attendance and engagement at these webinars continues to grow, which is reflective of a sector that is committed to continual improvement and delivery of quality VET outcomes.
We launched our second instalment of Spotlight On, with a focus on how to conduct assessment validation. This topic was selected on the basis of feedback from the sector, and recognises the importance of assessment validation as a key tool for providers seeking to get the best results from their assessment systems and improve the quality of their training practices and outcomes. I invite you to register for attendance at this webinar and to explore the first two chapters of online content on our website highlighting this topic. Further updates will be provided each Thursday as we progress with the series.
Our SLG met in May and considered ASQA’s draft Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and Performance Framework. This meeting featured productive discussions about how ASQA’s new Performance Framework will be used to benchmark, measure and evaluate our performance and progress towards realising our purpose and strategic deliverables, and the important role the SLG members have to contribute to broader stakeholder consultation on both of these frameworks going forward. I look forward to keeping you updated as we progress this work.
