Information for former students of cancelled providers
The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), the national regulator for the vocational education and training (VET) sector in Australia, works to ensure quality vocational education and training (VET) so that students, industry, governments and the community have confidence in the integrity of national qualifications issued by training providers.
ASQA is currently undertaking an ongoing program of regulatory actions in respect to a number of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) following a series of compliance investigations targeting illegal behaviour and non-genuine providers.
To ensure the integrity of the VET sector and to protect the public, ASQA is cancelling the registration of some providers. Where these providers have been found to have issued qualifications without the appropriate training or assessment, ASQA is pursuing regulatory action to cancel qualifications and/or statements of attainment issued by those providers.
ASQA continues to work collaboratively with other government agencies and state and territory governments and regulators in relation to the impact of these actions and other qualification cancellation decisions on former students, as well as any workplaces affected.
ASQA’s ongoing priority areas for the 2024-25 financial year include:
- increased threat from non-genuine providers and bad-faith operators
- inadequate or fraudulent recognition of prior learning
- shortened course duration
- academic cheating
- student work placement
- ongoing risks associated with the rapid shift to online delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic
ASQA is committed to lifting quality and integrity across the VET sector and the integrity of our qualifications is a primary focus. There is no place for any provider who seeks to undermine the sector or exploit students.
