A review of issues relating to unduly short training, 2017

Previous ASQA strategic reviews have found many training course durations are below the timeframes required by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). These findings led to the creation of this report.

Findings suggest that courses that are too short could affect the long-term quality of the sector. The review makes three recommendations to address and reduce this risk.

In September 2019, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Skills Council considered the recommendations. Members agreed to change the Standards for Training Packages to allow for the development of minimum training durations in exceptional high-risk circumstances.
