Ministerial Statement of Expectations
The Hon Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Skills and Training, provided ASQA with a Ministerial Statement of Expectations (SOE) on 6 March 2025.
The Ministerial Statement of Expectations outlines Minister Giles’s expectations of ASQA as a best-practice regulator, with a dual purpose to protect and enhance quality, flexibility and innovation in vocational education and training (VET) as well as protect and enhance Australia’s reputation for VET nationally and internationally.
The SOE focuses on five key areas:
- a strong, high-quality sector
- integrity in the sector
- regulatory practice
- collaboration and stewardship
- leadership of the CEO driving ASQA’s performance.
Statement of Intent
In line with the Regulator Performance Guide, ASQA is currently developing a Statement of Intent to respond to these expectations, to be provided to the Minister. The Statement of Intent will outline how ASQA intends to meet the Minister’s expectations and refers to our key priorities. It will be published in full on ASQA’s website once it is provided to the Minister.
We will include reporting against this Statement of Expectations in accordance with our Statement of Intent in future annual reports.
