National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Advisory Council
The function of the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Advisory Council is to provide advice to the National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Regulator on the VET Regulator’s functions.
Establishment of an Advisory Council was a key recommendation of the Rapid Review of ASQA’s Regulatory Practices and Processes.
In April 2022, ASQA welcomed the appointment of the inaugural National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Advisory Council (Advisory Council) to support its continued focus on best practice regulation of the VET sector.
Advisory Council members are appointed based on expertise in governance, regulation, industry engagement, and education and training.
The Advisory Council is a valuable source of strategic advice to ASQA and underscores its commitment to learning from the expertise of others and continuing to build and maintain confidence in the national regulator.
Governance arrangements for the Advisory Council were introduced in the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Amendment (Governance and Other Matters) Bill 2020, which was passed in August 2020. The Bill includes the formation of an advisory council comprising experts in the fields of regulatory practice, sector and business engagement, and education and training.
