Summary of default obligations
The diagram below provides a summary of your obligations if you default, and the time frames in which you will need to complete them.
Note: PRISMS is a secure database developed jointly by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and the Department of Home Affairs.
Provider obligations upon default
- Lodge default notices in PRISMS within three business days of the default day
- Use PRISMS to give notices about the default against each confirmation of enrolment of a student affected by the default
- Notify students of default within three business days of the default day
- Notify each affected student of the default in writing
- End of provider obligation period (14 days after the default day)
- Complete arrangements for all students who have agreed in writing to be offered a place in an alternative course OR pay refunds to students
- Notify outcome of discharge of obligations in PRISMS by seven days after the end of the provider obligation period
- Use PRISMS to give notifications against each confirmation of enrolment of a student affected by the default about the discharge of obligations to the student
